Follow the below steps to enable multi-factor authentication for Office 365 account:
1. User for whom the admin has enabled MFA, log in to Office 365 using the web address https://login.microsoftonline.com
2. Open the security verification page by using the link https://aka.ms/MFASetup (saved earlier).
Provide the required information as:
Step 1: How should we contact you?
1. Select the mode of contact as Authentication phone, Office phone, or Mobile app.
2. On selecting mode of contact as Authentication phone, enter a valid mobile number.
3. Select the second factor authentication method as Send me a code by text message or Call me.
4. On selecting “Send me a code by text message” or “Call me”, you may be charged according to your mobile operator rates.
5. Here we have selected “Send me a code by text message”.
6. Click Next.
Step 2: We’ve sent a text message to your phone.
1. You will receive a verification code via SMS to the provided mobile number.
2. Enter the received code in the text box.
3. Click Verify.
A success message appears on successful verification. Click Done.
Office 365 login page appears.
You will receive a verification code on your mobile phone.
Enter the received code and click Verify to sign in.
Note: If you have selected the “Call me” option, answer the call and press the # sign.
Office 365 multi-factor authentication is configured and it can be used each time on entering the username and password.
The Additional security verification page appears where you can modify the settings.
